Dont blindly follow

Dont blindly follow

To start with, let’s imagine in our daily lives, how many superstitions we blindly follow. We must become practical is what I mean to say.

First of all let’s trace out the origins of these superstitions. We inherit these mainly from our parents, our teachers and our ancestors. What not!! Unbelievable!! . We can follow some reasonable ones but sometimes feel embarrassed to follow idiotic dogmas.

We being educated persons should put an end to these and should not pass this to our younger generations. Superstitions are typically seen as inconsequential creations of irrational minds. Nevertheless, many people rely on superstitious thoughts and practices in their daily routines in order to gain good luck.

Let me illustrate an example of how these superstitions were born.

Eight monkeys were made to starve for days and then put in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling.

Each time a monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable. Soon enough, whenever a monkey attempts to climb the ladder ,the others beat him up. Soon, none of the eight monkeys ever attempts to climb the ladder.

One of the original monkeys is then removed, and a new monkey is put in the room. Seeing the bananas and the ladder, he immediately begins to climb the ladder. All the other monkeys fall upon him and beat him silly. He has no idea why. However, he no longer attempts to climb the ladder.A second original monkey is removed and replaced. The newcomer again attempts to climb the ladder, but all the other monkeys hammer the daylights out of him. This includes the previous new monkey, who, grateful that he’s not on the receiving end this time. However, he has no idea why he’s attacking the new monkey.

One by one, all the original monkeys are replaced. Eight new monkeys are now in the room. None of them have ever been sprayed by ice water. None of them attempt to climb the ladder. All of them will enthusiastically beat up any new monkey who tries, without having any idea why!!!..

Then the set of 8 monkeys which knew the reason were taken and kept in another room having the same environment with ladder and bananas but this time no showering of ice water, the monkeys did not even dare to look at the ladder.

They built a superstition that bananas on top of ladder will lead to trouble!!!

Let’s correlate this to our real lives. We blindly follow many of the superstitions without the knowledge of its origin!!. Be it the RahuKalam or the Vastu!! All idiotic in nature!!.

How many of us have followed this all our life, we have packed things way ahead and cancelled trips if it is bharani and karthigai nakshatram. Many have probed, you mean the railways take holidays on these days, no! Then why the hell are these entire still in force.

Why pack the stuff the previous night and leave it in the neighborhood we spend time there before we venture ahead, and have a satisfaction of beating rahu to his game.

Monday morning have always had blues from people who have to leave by the 8 to 9 period but leave home before 7am 7.30 to 9 rahu kalam so that to avoid and sometime heard bankers going ahead with a mock transaction to avoid this time, and even the people traveling in their car start much earlier or lay back their time to suit the better after math and so on.

While leaving the house the other things are a wooden log laden vehicle or carrier, a widow, two shudras one brahmana and so on, we turn back inward to start all over again. Is it superstitious? No! Many a time I have seen the avoidable delays and many a time shops closed or we have forgotten the keys to the houseleft it at friends place only to travel all the way around the city and get back,

I would not say it fatal but something not happening smooth, so they avoid it at any cost
.

Another example of this can also be religious beliefs, especially when we are passing by in car, people give flying kisses to statues and temples side by, as if god is going to note down in his dairy that you gave a flying kiss and bless you with extra grace??? Never!!! Instead I guess we are insulting him.

To keep it simple my advice is that please guys we are educated personalities and don’t blindly follow anything without actual reasoning behind it.

Humanity has the stars in its future, and that future is too important to be lost under the burden of juvenile folly and ignorant superstition.

The root of all superstition is that men observe when a thing hits, but not when it misses.
